On Saturday, 21st July the Town of Port Deposit and the Port Deposit Chamber of Commerce will be hosting what is probably the largest and most interesting event the town has ever witnessed
Designed to coincide with the Captain John Smith 400 project of the re-enactment of the original voyages in 1607 and 1608, and the arrival of the replica shallop and crew in Port Deposit, the Town of Port Deposit and the Port Deposit Chamber of Commerce have created a timeline living history pageant, which will prove both educational and entertaining for families young and old. The event is free, and you are invited to time travel with us through encampments representing 1603 through 1946, while enjoying delicious festival foods, seven live bands, demonstrations, hands-on crafts and activities, and old world artisans from quilting to spinning, blacksmith to gunsmith, woodworker to fine arts, sculpture, pottery, calligraphy and more.
In honor of this auspicious nationally publicized event, Port Deposit has planned a timeline (1603-1946) living history event with five specific themed areas including:
Marina Park as Heritage Park with encampments & artisans
Town Hall as the Susquehanna Gallery featuring a variety of artwork
Port Deposit Presbyterian Church as our heritage display and vintage music venue with a pipe organ concert, colonial and Celtic concerts
The Paul Risk Associates Office (Bank Building) as our Port Homecoming with genealogical displays, heritage displays, and more
Port Deposit Library as our Navy Homecoming with tours of Bainbridge, exhibits and video history presentations
The event has been meticulously planned and involves many hundreds of people staging re-enactments and demonstrating, through a timeline, life in the town from the 1600's until the last century.
